Those are organic and artistic movements for real. Refined and elegant, the real art of gymnastics. Simone Biles may be outstanding, but she do everything with x8 speed and robot like movements. She'll never have this level of delicacy and elegance.

They studied strict ballet for years back in these days. You cannot fake her line and positions even if you spent all day moving someone around to get a single good picture like with Natalie Portman (they failed with her). Simone Biles could not do this routine and get remotely close in score. It is very unlikely that she would even be in the top 10. They have changed the ground rules in favor of acrobats doing dangerous tricks. The perfection level and judging requirements of Daniela are far beyond the present-day gymnasts. Now they are only about difficulty factor. Daniela could have easily become a professional ballet dancer, maybe a really good one with another 5 to 10 years of study. BTW, a male gymnast is more likely with his attained skills to be able to apply them as a ballet dancer. Unless a girl started doing pointe work by the age of 11 or 12 it is unlikely she will ever gain the super strength and thicker tendons in her lower legs needed for classical ballet. Look at the unnatural oversized calves of any professional female ballet dancer.

Pity she retired before the Worlds. With all the falls by Soviet and Romanian gymnasts, she could have taken a few medals.

She makes Simone Biles look like a storm trooper.

Today she would score nothing… People would tell that Simone Biles chose more complex movements even though she didn’t perform them perfectly so her routine already starts at a higher score. And nowadays, the artistic part is absolutely missing. Gymnasts do a few movements to try to say they’re graceful, but they don’t even have rhythm doing that.

Wow!!! Today gimnastics are hard and tough, before were beautiful.
